Macbeth Act V

Today we viewed the first half of Act V. The students must complete the following assigment for hw:

After viewing the film, use the book and respond to each of the following in complete sentences.


Scene 1
Pg 163
Explain lines 44-47, and 53-55.

Pg 165
Provide a line that shows the doctor believing he cannot help Lady Macbeth.

Scene 3
Pg 173
Provide a line that shows why Macbeth feels he has nothing to fear.

Scene 4
Pg 175
Explain the line “Thereby shall we shadow the numbers of our host and make discovery err in report of us.” Explain why this scene is included in the play.

Today we viewed Act IV, scenes 1 & 2. The students are to complete the following assignment for tomorrow:

Pgs 125-127
Provide a line for each of the 3 prophecies. Macbeth doesn’t appear too worried after he hears the prophecies. Provide a line that shows this.

Pg 131
Provide a line that explains what Macbeth wants done to Macduff and his family. Why does he want this done?

Why is scene 2 included in the play?

Macbeth Projects

Below are the Audacity projects completed by students in period 4 and period 7. The goal of these projects is to examine how tone is created. Simply by listening to these dramatic readings of selected speeches, you will be able to identify the tone of the entire play.

Audacity/Act III

We are currently working on a project using the audio mixing software Audacity. This should be completed by the end of the period Friday. Students are reading selected speeches from Macbeth, with a focus on tone/mood.

Today we completed a project using the audio mixing software Audacity. The students, as a class, completed a dramatic reading of Act I, scene 1 of Macbeth. We focused on tone and mood. Pick the winner.

Macbeth

We are currently working on Shakespeare's Macbeth. Today we completed Act I. The students have completed several assignments asking them to provide specific lines from the play depicting important events. We are also viewing clips from the Polanski film version of the play.
